During an emergency!

During an emergency, press the dial button on your mobile and leave it
on, preferably where it is not visible. During your conversation
indicate the place where you are and what the situation is. Remain calm
and delay the situation at that point for as long as possible. Help
might be on its way.

1.Try to raise an alarm if you can and also try to note down the
registration number and particulars of the vehicle being used by
miscreants.

2.Get police verification done for domestic help. It has been often
observed that old servants are more often than not involved in these cases.

3.Don't send children un escorted to school or to the bus stand unless
it cannot be avoided.

4.Don't send children in general public transport unless it cannot be
avoided.

5.Avoid set pattern routine and routes while traveling to and from office.

6.Installation of electronic security systems are a great help and not
expensive these days.

7.Educate your children on security related issues.

8.When getting out of the house or office area scan the area around for
suspicious movement. More likely than not, if you are alert any unusual
movements get picked up and noticed.

9.When traveling in your own car:

(a)Keep the doors locked.

(b)Keep the windows up.

(c)Wherever possible, adopt car pool system of traveling.

10.Girls should carry a pepper spray. This is advisable.

11.Before driving or going to sleep the last number dialed should be of
a close friend or relative staying close by. This should become the
first number to dial in case of an emergency.

12.Have numbers of all important bodies with you like police, fire
station etc.

13.Preferably, stay at secure colonies/ societies.

14.Impress upon children not to talk to or go anywhere with strangers.

15.Don't take eatables from strangers.

16.If you have security guards for your locality / apartment complex,
make sure he has Police verification.

17.Don't display your identity or place of work e.g. ABC comp etc.

18.Don't allow strangers into the house, even on the pretext of doing
household work.

19.Don't give lift to or take lift from unknown persons.

20.Avoid speaking on mobile phones while walking on lonely stretches.

21.Avoid publicizing your routine or travel plans.
